Who We Are
Established in 2005, the Abbotsford Police Foundation (APF) is a not-for-profit organization funding Abbotsford Police Department (APD) community programs that are not covered by their operating budget. The APD can not directly receive financial contributions, however the APF is a trusted, practical way for you to help support the work of our officers, enhancing public safety.
In partnership with the community, the Abbotsford Police Department is committed to ensuring safety and security by enforcing the law, preventing crime, and responding to community needs.
Through our fundraising efforts the APF strives to support, build and foster positive connections between Abbotsford Police Department and our community.
Generous donations and sponsorship from Abbotsford citizens and business community make the APD crime prevention programs possible.
The Abbotsford Police Foundation was founded in 2005 by three community leaders – Jack Robertson, Dave Kandal and Spud Murphy. Each believed that it would take a personal investment from the community to ensure the APD had the funding to provide programs and develop initiatives to help keep Abbotsford a safe community. The founders invested not only time, but money. Their passion for the cause and dedicated efforts to see it thrive resulted in more members of the community contributing generous donations. The Abbotsford Community Foundation provided a matching grant, as did the Police Union, through Doug Sage. Today, because of the commitment of these original members, and those that followed, the Abbotsford Police Foundation continues to raise funds to facilitate positive relationships between the police and the community they protect.
