- December 8, 2022 – The Abbotsford Police Foundation (APF) has elected their new Executive Board.
At the APF board meeting Wednesday Directors elected their Executive Board for 2023-2024. This includes:
- President, Sandy Blue
- Vice President, Marcus Akhtar
- Treasurer, Kinder Sidhu
Sandy who has been serving as Vice President for the last number of years replaces Kevin Boonstra who has stepped down as President but will remain on the board for another year. Marcus joined the board in 2019 and Kinder in 2022. Kinder replaces Jon Eaton as Treasurer.
Other board members include: Jennifer Willford (Chair of Marketing and Events Committee), Christina Reid, Erwin Braun (Chair of Fundraising), Jon Eaton, Chief Constable Mike Serr and AbbyPD union president Detective Corrie Haines.
“I’d like to thank Kevin and Jon for their service on the Executive Committee of the board; and look forward to working with them on the board as they complete the last year of their term.” says Sandy. “I’m honoured to continue the work that Jack Robertson, Dave Kandal and Spud Murphy envisioned when they founded the APF back in 2005; and I’m so proud of the impact the Foundation has had in the community since then. Our volunteer directors devote hundreds of hours of their personal time to serve the community. I’m so appreciative of the time, talent and passion each of our board members invest each year.” Blue adds “As a completely volunteer organization there is a lot of ‘behind the scenes’ work that takes place to manage a growing not for profit organization like ours’.
APF initiatives this year have included the annual signature fundraiser ‘Crime is Toast – Breakfast with the Chief’, and Trees of Hope at Sevenoaks Shopping Centre. Some of the AbbyPD grants this year – designed to build positive relationships that bring police and community together – include Movie Night in the Park and AbbyPD City Basketball tournament.
