November 6, 2022 –The Abbotsford Police Foundation (APF) is pleased that its 8th annual signature fundraiser Crime is Toast – Breakfast with the Chief raised $40,000.

The Abbotsford Police Foundation was thrilled to welcome the community back in person once again this year.
Abbotsford Police Foundation President Kevin Boonstra says, “We are delighted that we were able to raise $40,000 this year to support AbbyPD community policing initiatives. On behalf of our board of directors, we’d like to thank our community for its continuing support and to especially thank our sponsors, Longboard Products and RDC Group for their generous support again this year.”

AbbyPD Chief Constable Mike Serr notes “Crime is Toast is such a special event for me and the Department. It’s a unique opportunity for our members to meet community and business leaders; and for the community to spend time with our AbbyPD team one-on-one.”

Serr went on to say “while it is impossible to put a value on the importance of this support, we know that by coming together in this way we help build a stronger, more positive relationship with our community while demonstrating our motto – “Strength in Community”. On behalf of the entire Department, I’d like to thank the Abbotsford Police Foundation for hosting the event once again this year; and the community for their ongoing support.”
The APF helps connect police with community, create positive relationships and fund engaging programs including specialized equipment for the AbbyPD. Each year the APF receives grant applications from police members for a range of initiatives. Applications approved by Chief Constable Mike Serr are forwarded to the APF for consideration.

Specialized equipment funded in recent years includes a training simulator, a drone and Gator –important tools that help AbbyPD officers keep Abbotsford safe.
