May 25, 2022 – The Abbotsford Police Foundation (APF) releases 2021 annual report.
The APF has released their 2021 annual report, highlighting the major achievements from a year that was like no other.

APF President Kevin Boonstra noted “Helen Keller once said, “alone, we can do so little; together we can do so much.”

2021 was a difficult year for Abbotsford. Because of that, our community had yet another opportunity to demonstrate its generosity and kindness in many big and small ways.

Among those were the continuing support of the people of Abbotsford for our police department. The Abbotsford Police Foundation is immensely grateful.

We continued to raise funds and connect our community with the Abbotsford Police Department. We are proud of supporting youth, retired police dogs, any many other programs. The Trees of Hope campaign and Celebrating Community events were highlights of 2021. We are very much looking forward to returning to more in-person interactions in 2022!”

“As I reflect on 2021, I feel tremendous pride about how our department and community worked together. Although the year came to an end in a challenging way, we witnessed many amazing acts of kindness, courage, compassion and hard work” commented Chief Constable Mike Serr

Serr went on to say, “We were able to further strengthen community relationships through the events that the Abbotsford Police Foundation so graciously sponsored, such as the AbbyPD City Basketball tournament and the Celebrating Community family event at Mill Lake Park. I am grateful for the support the community provided the AbbyPD through their generosity to the Foundation. In 2022 I am hopeful that we will be able to enjoy additional opportunities to come together and continue to build positive relationships working on initiatives that support the common goal of making Abbotsford the ‘Safest city in British Columbia.”

About the APF: Established in 2005, the Abbotsford Police Foundation (APF) is a charitable foundation working with the Abbotsford Police Department to deliver community programs. The AbbyPD cannot directly receive financial contributions; however, the APF is a trusted, practical way for the community to help support the work of Abbotsford Police, enhancing public safety. In accordance with their Donation Policy the APF provides a charitable receipt for every qualified donation over $500.

The APF helps connect police with community, create positive relationships and fund engaging initiatives including specialized equipment for the AbbyPD. Each year the APF receives grant applications from police members for a range of initiatives. Applications approved by Chief Constable Mike Serr are forwarded to the APF for consideration.
